I've been thinking a lot about privacy recently (probably to distract myself from thinking about Covid-19 and what it will do to our healthcare system), and it's clear there is a regulatory impetus given GDPR (and similar), but that has led to the creation of compliance management companies which only gets us partially there. There seems to be also a consumer impetus as people are increasing becoming aware of the risks of not knowing how their data is being used, but arguably this is still not a mass market sentiment. Could there be a developer impetus of wanting to build more adaptive/functional/interesting apps more easily without having to collect and store sensitive data or relying on others' APIs?
